Overview
This trip is based on one day orangutan trek, with the difference that transport from and to Medan is included. In the morning start from your hotel in Medan at around 7am for travel to Bukit Lawang, spend the day trek in the jungle with designed to give you a brief taster of what the jungle has to offer including (hopefully) orangutans in their natural habitat.
Itinerary
7:00 am

Departure from your hotel or specified point in Medan.

Drive to Bukit Lawang.
9:00 am

Arrival in Bukit Lawang.

Time for breakfast and a brief rest at our guesthouse/restaurant.
9:30 am

Begin the trek into the jungle of Gunung Leuser National Park.

Expect to see various wildlife such as wild orangutans, Thomas’ leaf monkeys, white-handed gibbons, black gibbons, long-tailed macaques, pig-tailed macaques, hornbills, peacocks, and monitor lizards.

Our guide will educate you on the local flora and fauna, including traditional medicinal plants.

Break time in the jungle.

Enjoy seasonal fruits like pineapple, passion fruit, bananas, and rambutan.

Lunch will typically consist of fried rice brought from the village.

Continue trekking and spotting wildlife.
15:00 pm

Board a jungle raft for a one-hour journey down the Bohorok River back to Bukit Lawang (option to walk back instead).
16:00 pm

End of the trek.

Relax and shower at our place before returning to Medan.
17:00 pm

Drive back to Medan, with drop-off at your hotel or the airport (for flights later than 8 pm).
