Jungle Trekking Tips
Clothing
Bright, Light, Quick-Drying, Breathable Fabrics: Opt for light but long trousers in bright colors to protect against poisonous plants and insects. Long socks are also essential to cover any exposed skin. Quick-drying T-shirts made of lightweight, perspiration-controlling fabric are ideal.
Colors
Light Tones: Wear light tones such as brown, beige, and green to blend into the landscape and avoid scaring animals. Avoid strong colors like yellow, blue, and red, which attract insects.
Footwear
Comfortable Shoes with Rough Soles: Light, comfortable hiking boots or sneakers with rough profiles are essential for navigating muddy terrain. Supportive shoes slightly above the ankle are recommended. For crossing rivers, bring additional sandals.
Backpack
Small (25-35 Liters): Carry a small backpack for personal belongings, including a water bottle, which can be refilled at campsites. The Guide will provide all other necessary equipment and supplies.
Protection
Against Sun and Insects: Use insect repellent to prevent bites and tropical diseases. Apply sun lotion and wear a hat to protect against strong tropical sun. A cloth to cover the neck is also recommended.
Campsite Tips
Afternoon and Nightwear: Light T-shirts and shorts in bright colors for the afternoon; warm, long-sleeved shirts, trousers, and socks for the evening. Keep a set of dry clothes for the campsite. Pack a swimsuit, sunglasses, flip-flops, raincoat, toilet paper, flashlight, quick-dry towel, and personal hygiene items.
Electronic Gear
Double Protection: Protect electronic gear in extra plastic or waterproof bags. Ensure your daypack has a rain cover.
Medication
Personal Medical Kit: Include anti-diarrhea medicine, dehydration salts, antihistamine, aspirin, and antibiotics.
Safety
Follow Guidelines: Adhere to rules and instructions provided by the EcoTravel team for a safe experience in the jungle.
